R.I.P.
Last night I discussed with a friend of mine why it was taking the parties behind the R-list such a long time to realise that what's dead can't be put back to life by shaking it (although last weeks' attempts have been more of a rattle than a shake). Then I suddenly realised that the same logic applied to this forlorn blogsite of mine. This thing should have been put to sleep as soon as I returned home since it's initial purpose was to give friends and family news from Strasbourg. News from Reykjavik, no matter how interesting, just aren't as blogworthy in my mind and last weeks' or even months' entries have been little more than a rattle.
Hence, I am going to play coroner before the R-list people and declare this site dead.
Or at least, comatose.

Ego Sum Sportacus
Joined Lina and some more crazy people in a karate boot camp last weekend. Who would have thought that I, the age-old anti-sportist, would ever think of - let alone do- such a thing?!
Well, I went and loved every single minute of it. Never thought I could push my body to such lengths nor that I was capable of producing as much adrenaline as I did on Saturday. That day I accomplished the following: 90 min practice followed by another 90 min practice followed by rafting down Hvítá glacier river (where I tore off a injured nail while floating in the cold river - felt like superman) followed by the Thorshamar tournament of Kubbur followed by considerable drinking before returning for an even longer practice the next morning. But I was far from being the most tired and hungover person there...
Anyway, a great warm-up for the Vasa insanity and put in one word: Hressandi!
Otherwise, I now have a beautiful yet hairy male residing in the Thingholtsstraeti Palace and ahead of me I have three weeks of holiday which will be spent on my goddaughter, sunshine and relaxation (read: karate, hiking, running, washing floors and windows, possibly painting the appartment... ).

Congratulations
Today I achieved nothing.
Reasons:
-Lack of sleep and lingering traces of alcohol after an unexpected but hugely entertaining Monday night drinking with oldest friend Anna Helga;
-Lack of interesting projects;
-Lack of enthousiasm due to lack of interesting projects;
-First day after holiday;
-Bad weather.
I'm off to karate to increase the number of today's achievements by 100% and bring them to a total of 1.

Trade or Die!
The latest issue of Foreign Policy Magazine tells us about an interesting theory of the survival of the species. A few economists have now conluded that the Neanderthal's sudden extinction was because of protectionism.
"What trade does is allow the less skilled to increase their resources," says Rick Moran, a coauther of the paper and a professor at Michican State University. "Neanderthals didn't trade, and so [they] couldn't do this and that's why they died out."
Hm, didn't know it was that simple: Trade - or die.

Where All Things Are Swedish
I was somehow taken by surprise to see how Swedish everything looks here in Sweden. This may sound strange but if any of you have seen any tv program made after a Lundgren story, that is the level of Swedish I'm seeing. Blue skies, blond people, red houses with white windows and the Swedish flag outside, sunshine, the landscape, the cleanliness, the social and environmentally friendly organisation of all things...
What did not surprise me here however is the fact that my heart now belongs to a 7 week old creature, earlier described as the most beautiful woman on earth but now upgrated to being the most beautiful and amazing creature on earth. How that girl manages to amaze me every time I look at her is beyond my understanding. Scientists would probably give it a name but I simply call it magic.
And to top it all, given the location of her birth, my niece is, like everything else here: Swedish.
I head out to seek adventures in the capital tomorrow. I'm kinda hoping that Stockholm will have more raw and cosmopolitan feel to it, otherwise I don't know what to think about this country. Seriously, I feel as if Kopps is the most realistic description of Sweden ever made.
